The Course

The "PDA in Schools: A Teacher Guide" course, presented by Dana Baltutis, focuses on supporting children with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) in school settings. The training addresses what PDA is, its significance with regard to learning, how anxiety and autonomy affect behaviour, and ways to reframe challenges compassionately. Practical classroom strategies and planning tools are also provided.

The course is aimed at teachers, learning support staff, school leaders, and anyone working with neurodivergent students.

What you will learn:

  • What PDA is and why it matters
  • How anxiety and autonomy shape behaviour
  • Reframing challenges with compassion
  • Practical classroom strategies and planning tools

Why This Matters:

  • Misunderstood students fall through the cracks
  • Behaviour is often mislabeled as defiance
  • PDA students need support, not discipline

What You'll Learn to Do:

  • Identify PDA traits and red flags
  • Use low-demand, co-regulatory strategies
  • Build trust and autonomy into learning

Our Guiding Principles:

  • Connection before correction
  • Presence over performance
  • Safety is the foundation of all learning
